The Black Bull
The Black Bull, Sedbergh
Up North Architects provided both architecture and interior design services for the restoration and re-modelling of this 17th century former coaching inn in the centre of the picturesque town of Sedbergh - nestled at the foot of the Howgill Fells in the Yorkshire Dales. The project included a new public bar, restaurant, commercial kitchen and 18 bespoke guestrooms providing a boutique hotel.
The entire structure was stripped back and fully refurbished. A commercial kitchen was created within a new stone building. Dramatic views from the guestrooms of Winder Fell were created via the provision of new external glazed balconies.
The project started on site in January 2018 with completion in June, and has received critical acclaim in The Times, The Telegraph and The Guardian since opening.
